Listen Boys and Girls, it’s time

Democrat or Republican. Left or Right. White or Black. Californian or Texan. Phillies fan or Rays fan. It doesn’t matter. We’ve got a week, roughly, kids, and it’s time to get serious. Everyone’s heard the negative ads. Everyone has their own opinion (yes, EVEN if it is not having an opinion yet). I certainly have one myself, and I will do my best to make ANYONE who reads this see why it is right. But all that doesn’t matter. What does matter is that you, yes you, get out there on November 4th and vote. Think about the following…

Everytime you see that  a soldier died in Iraq or Afghanistan, you should say to yourself, “for that soldier’s sacrifice, I’m going to vote.”

Everytime you see that crazy idiot spewing falsehoods against your opinion, you should say to yourself “to counter that idiot out, I’m going to vote.”

Every game of the Fall Classic that you watch, realize that the stars of the game (Ryan Howard, B.J. Upton, Carl Crawford) are members of a race who you could have owned two-hundred years ago. So everytime you watch, you should say to yourself “by God, for civil rights, and that homerun, for the right to watch this game free of charge, to see this wonderful sport and watch it with millions of others, for the American way itself, I’m going to vote!”

When it comes right down to it, you are an American, and if you’re honest with yourself, you love your country. The reason you do is because you get to live your life as you damn well please. The government, the founding fathers we so idolize, don’t ask a whole lot. They do ask one thing, that you vote.

So go out November fourth, vote for Obama, vote for McCain. Vote left, vote right. Vote up, vote down. Vote for prop A, or prop Q, or whatever proposition means something, ANYTHING to you. Just please, if you love your country, if your proud to be an American, and if you want to have a say in how your country is run, go out and vote.
